Vintage 2007 | 95% tannat 5% cabernet franc brown Italian rooftiles in colour, deep dark. Scent you have to conquer, not so easy. After some time I detected Mon Cherie: cherries and chocolate. Later also spicyness. Much character: juicy and pleasant when first in the mouth, but also much tannins. Fifteen years old but can easily be stashed away for five years. Ideal wine for people with a cellar and the rest to wait. Love it.

Vintage 2010 / Young but with open nose, plums, spicyness, in my opinion disjointed, stubborn but my God what a potential

Vintage 2002 / it’s so dark when you pour this in the glass, rooftile colour at the rim, I put my nose in the glass and... stand at the yard of a farmer. Autumnleaves and manure, graphite, laurel and an impression of plums. What a joy to smell, several layers. At this moment in the mouth a lot of tannin and bitters, also a refined taste of cherries. I am doubting to pour from the bottle or give it some air in the decanter... before dinner. It’s a tremendous joy to taste tannat / madiran. The vieilles vignes offers a lot more than the basic cuvee.

Very Good quality wine, rustic and rowdy, but with a structured and dense backbone, tannic!? Yes! But with plenty of fruit, florals to make it alive. Somewhat wearying alcohol and without food you’re up for a good fight. Decent complexity and good length

Dark and dense, but with a fresh line and earthy/bloody component nestled in the dark fruit and balanced oak. The flavor is of course driven by its lip smacking tannins, yet with a good fruit coverage which made them more approachable than expected. Modern winemaking in this rural outpost is the recipe for success. Nice performance

Majestic with layers of secondary flavored. Earth. Smoke. Meat. Funk. Medium body. Long lasting and eminently drinkable.

Damp earth, prunes and black cherries, antique cabinets, humidor, spicebox, dried herbs and a touch of manure. On the palate there is a luxury mouthfeel, horse stable, classic dryness, acidity and rusticity. Resolving tannines, completely a point. Somewhere halfway a Saint Estephe and a Cornas. Amazing QPR.

Even improves with air! Up a notch.

Always one my my favorites, Tannats like these are reason enough to lay down a bottle for 10 years.
