2009 vintage. Dark red colour, rather unevolved for this age. Black fruit and spices. A good wine indeed, but this estate tends to slightly overextract.Abv. 13 %.

Classic BX. I notice the Merlot. Prettier a day open. Cigar bad more prevalent. Surprisingly youthful for 2105.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing red currants, cooked cherries, oak, spices, vanilla, herbs, licorice, cloves, dark coffee, pencil lead, earth, wet leaves and bitter vegetables.

Medium finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 19 year old has a lot of fruits still, and needs time to open up properly (1 hour), so be patient.

Showing great complexity at this point. Tasty and interesting.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 46% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Aged in (50% new) French oak barrels.

13% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$60.

Very subtle notes of plum and bright cherry, nose smells like a jam punch, yet on the palate is more decadent with tannic structure. Great pairing with a fat steak 😉

Vintage 2014 | Rich smell for this year with laurel, leather, quite strict. Good full bodied spine, nice. Good effort.

2019 vintage. Tasted alongside Poujeaux 2019, this Belgrave seems more powerful and more extracted. More gentle extractions seem to suit the vintage better, therefore I rate the Poujeaux a little higher. But this is still a very good wine and terrific value as it is dumped in supermarkets at 20,90 euros. They don't seem to have much faith in their Grand Cru Classé status...

‪This Chateau Belgrave 1945, from a half bottle with a lower mid-shoulder level, was simply one of the most enjoyable wines I’ve ever had. Absolutely stunning; smokey, aged tobacco leaves - like a cigar shop in Havana. Lovely acidity, and phenomenal length! What a vintage:-D‬
