Charles Smith
Kungfu Girl Washington State Riesling
Disappointing. Flat and lifeless. Palate really unfocused...starts off crisp, lean and mineral driven, with honeyed sweetness jumping in knocking everything out of whack. I expected more for the hype.

Nov 4th, 2017My Dad picked up this bottle for us to taste last week. It’s a Riesling from Washington State in the USA. I think this will have been my first American Riesling 😱
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My mum reckons Kung Fu Girl (made by Charles Smith Wines) is closer to the Kiwi style of dry Riesling rather than the Aussie style with its fruity ‘sweet and sour taste’. It’s funny that my mum said that description as the wine was made purposefully to go with Chinese takeout! Sweet and sour pork anyone? 🍛
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s a really nice and citrusy Riesling with sweet orange/mandarin dominating the flavour. It has also scored rather highly by critics making Wine Spectators Top 100 and Wine Enthusiasts Best Buys.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine

A standard fallback for us. Good for sharing with beginners to wine. Seems fairly universally accepted.

Aug 23rd, 2018Our favorite summertime riesling. Not too sweet, crisp with just the right hint of fruit. Very drinkable.

Jul 11th, 2018Not too dry, but not too sweet. Nicely fruity with hints of pear and apple.
