At 61 this half bottle still had strong ruby/purple color solid to the rim of the glass and good dark cherry fruit. Could this have had Pinot & Petite Sirah in with the Gamay? The tannins were resolved, maybe to much, and the wine did not have any gras left, but it sure was a pretty look into the past!

The 1955. Sixty years ago a lot of things were different in the golden state. "Burgundy" was "a blend of Gamay and other fine grapes". This half bottle made it, and still had allure and pleasure if only on a thin, frail frame. It was much improved from hours of decanter time.

Crazy cool-mushroom herb broth, really cool complex nose, total shock, some cool fresh fruit on the back end

If I had this blind, I am certain I would have said Amontillado. It didn't just have the light brown color and oxidized nuttiness, it had a very salty component that seemed like flor.
