Chappellet
Signature Donn Chappellet Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The fruit is fresher than expected, and resolutely black. Supple with balanced cocoa/cedar/vanilla.

Dec 20th, 2016Dang!!!!! I lost my first rating! Okay, once again. This is a 2011 Cab from Cali. Yes it is true that this was not the best year for California. However, for Donn Chappellet it has been a great success!!!!
This 2011 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon is superb! It is 14.5 % alcohol!!!!!! - decant at least an hour! It was hard! The cork was perfectly preserved. The decanting time was 1 hour. The color is pitch black with a purple hue. The legs are thick and slow. The bouquet is lavender and blackberry cobbler! The initial palate is fresh cabernet grapes, blackberries, raspberries, leather, and butter. There is no sharp nor astringent beginning. It is very smooth. The finish is moderately long with hints of green apple and oak. It is minimally dry. There is no spice nor pepper which would make it pure perfection. Therefore I give it a 9.8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
