Sleek, concentrated fruit plus fine, grippy tannins plus mouth watering acid plus alcohol that darts in and out of view equals power, longevity, and satisfaction. (3 hrs in -- softer, more supple, but still intensely concentrated, powerful, and long. Raising the 9.2 to 9.4)

Found this 2008 vintage to pair with a roast beef dinner. Soft tannins, and a perfect fruit make an excellent meal.

With grilled flank steak and fresh sausage. Ace wine. Decanted for a couple hours prior to pouring. Tannins mellowed nicely. Fruit and oak so nicely integrated.

Big fruit after aerating and decanting for about 15 minutes. Evolved and now has a spicy nose and firm tannins after about an hour. Needs time to settle down but was excellent paired with a filet.

Earthy with dark fruit breaking through just like a Petite Sirah should be. Chappellet makes this consistently well.

Petite Syrah is not Chappellet's specialty. Not terrible, but not great. Admittedly, I am not a regular Petite Syrah drinker but I've had better.
