As per previous notes. Some floral and tarry notes with menthol and ferrous nuances. On the medium weight palate liquorice and aniseed with little fruit coming through at this age. Finishes with sandy persistent and very dry tannins. Have had better examples from the Asili vineyard.

Mid Ruby in colour with tawny edge. On the nose more savoury balsamic notes than fruit aromas. Light to medium bodied finishing with assertive sandy dry Tannins - medium + Acid. Expecting a little more complexity coming at the end of its drinking window and from the Asili vineyard. After a couple of hours in the decanter aromas of fine quality leather.

Corked unfortunately. Ordered this at the cellar door on a visit several years ago and had it shipped home. I have one left in the cellar so fingers crossed for it. No rating for this.

Lovely 2008 Barbaresco that I purchased after an hour or two sipping vertical flights at the Ceretto tasting room. It is lovely. Delicate but present tannins, wonderful cherry character, some earthy notes on the end. Not crazily complex, but happily not a tannic monster. It’s a joyful, elegant friend I’d love to spend time with every day from Oct-April. Paired nicely with a dinner of polenta bathed in porcini and shitakes. Happy, happy. If you want a sinister Bordeaux to knock you on your backside, this isn’t for you. Which leaves more for me!

Dark ruby, plum coloration. On the nose, cherry, plum and balsamic notes. On the palate, medium body, cherry, smoked oak, balsamic, florals, long finish of blackberry and raspberry. Tannins are still strong after 11 years in the bottle.
