Pours Ruby in color. ON THE NOSE: milk chocolate, menthol and briar fruit. ON THE PALATE: milk chocolate, plum, and savory. Slight acid on finish. Medium (+) body with a long finish. It's good as this is I would drink it now. I think it has peaked

Into the inky blackness we sank. So deep and brooding. A wine to contemplate and savor. Still singing tonight on night two.

This nose is FUNKY. This averages a 93 on CT, and after letting it sit and develop I can certainly see why. Kind of had a burned note to me. The nose was a dark, fried black blackberry full extracted wine. Had almost a cigar-box note on the nose. The wine was full bodied, kind of caked up note. had a lot of herbaceousness from the word go -- lots of popcorn, green pepper, red pepper, mushroom. I would serve this one with bell pepper and fajitas. It was hard to get my brain to think in the syrah fashion after drinking close to 10 cabs. I was very impressed by this wine, but I really think this one is still too young.

Superbe syrah sur le millésime 2008 épicée, fraîcheur et élégance des tanins. Une bonne surprise encore très jeune. Great!

2008 Cayuse En Cerise Syrah
And now for something completely different... what a gamey bastard. this wine was not decanted and for the first hour was all sweat and leather and smoke. no clue to tell you it was made from grapes and then about an hour after opening the fruit began to emerge and a beguiling vanilla note. I think the taste profile doubled in length and the wine really earned it's stripes. Still the polar opposite of the Alban in taste profile, but a sly and even elegant wine for all its gamey funky flavors. I'd date this dark exotic beauty anytime.

This wine is nearly perfect. It is always a joy to open a wine like this with friends at a great restaurant.
