Cayuse Vineyards
Cailloux Vineyard Syrah
Raspberry, stems, coffee, hung meat, asian spice, orange peel, tapenade, blood and stones. Feral, wild, moderate frame and earthy with a freshness to it. As always a layered and lengthy wine that evolved gloriously over dinner. The firm tannin profile and amount of perfume gave this a distinctive old school feel.

Jun 11th, 2022Cayuse was, for an 🇺🇸 Syrah, subtle and Old-worldish. Serious stank of barnyard and sweaty undergrowth, but after an hr, this opened up and smoothed out. Smoked meat, iron, beef blood. Green tapenade. Some Asian spice. Tangy but silky red fruit. Felt more Hermitage than WA. Wonderful.

Jan 1st, 2021WNH virtual tasting. 13’ Cayuse Cailloux. From Christophe oldest vineyard. Black raspberry, Orange blossom, matchstick, touch of white flower crosses the palate. Fine tannins. Meat, coffee, green olives finish to it that lingers for upwards of a minute. Just a touch more expressive then the 12. Both 95+ points.
No need to wait, drinking now.

Head exploding Syrah with a little Viognier in there as well. Concrete ferment, slaps you in the face with barnyard. Dirty, dirty girl. Awesome balance, tannins are not assertive at all.

This wine has its own ballad. It's smoked sausage, fresh roses, some fois gras for sure... Red fruited touch mostly dark cherries. Very unique profile
