Color me impressed at how youthful this was drinking. Normally one of the “bigger”/more intense syrahs from Christophe, this is certainly flexing its high usage of whole cluster/stems as well as classical Cayuse funk. I had a small glass at pop, and then enjoyed from the bottle over the next 2+hrs. Smoked cherry jerky, black peppercorn crusted raspberries, and plenty of stemmy green notes jump from the glass. Acidity is still really quite vibrant here, keeping the wine nervy and wild. Fleshy black cherries, truffle/savory herbs de Provence, and iron minerality to the core here. Towards the end, the floral notes really started to pop. Aging at a glacial pace.

My favourite of the 2 Cayuse. An earthy and Asian spice nose leads baking chocolate and espresso grinds in loamy dark red and black fruit. Layered with fine steamy wood, other secondary stuff that lingered for a minute on the palate. Wow. This is built to last.

So much more savory now with a little age. Perfect with roasted lamb chops.

Killer. Super expressive. Perfectly balanced, no rough edges, waves of flavor. Funk olives meat. Generous and intense but elegant and polished. Loooong. Yup.

Earthy and subdued on open. Over several hours opened up to show its brooding, deep, and concentrated self. Endlessly dark and thoughtful. Now I need a cigar.

Deep purple color. Clove, allspice and other brown baking spices in the aroma subtle raspberry and plum with savory flavors with plenty of white pepper on the long finish.
