Still very young, tons of lush fruit, go well with Chinese cuisine

What was meant to be a casual dinner with friends over homemade BLTs ended up turning into a full-blown wine dinner.
.
Still plenty of life left in this selection. Took about 30 minutes for the juice to stretch its legs but once it did everyone really enjoyed it. Medium-bodied with loads of Christmas spice cake, prunes, plums, molasses and cloves.

Still highly aromatic with an array of sweet, dried fruit in waves of plum and raisin. Tannins have all dissipated, leaving a smooth mouthfeel, though the wine perhaps lacking structure and complexity through expression of earth, herbs, vegetables, or spices. Certainly a memorable crowd pleaser for Christmas Eve. Perfect with jam shortbread cookies for dessert too.

This is a truly wonderful wine. One of the best bottles that I had.

Old world, brick red color. Warm red pepper. Acid. Earth. Soft, warm, and coating yet still a bit shallow and acidic on the finish.

Okay, we started with a 1999 Paul Hobbs Beckstoffer To-Kalon cabernet (his first vintage of that wine that I had saved for >12 years in my cellar)...and it was CORKED! Charlie Wagner saved us, fortunately, with his spectacular 2002 cabernet. Still has a lot of life left, but this is fantastic. Hints of black currants, but terrific secondary aromatics. Great finish. Again, will probably last, but my advice is drink 'em if you got 'em!
