The jury is out as of now for this wine. My current tasting of this private label, Caymus produced Cab, shows aromas of ripe dark fruit and herb notes. On the palate, cherry, blackberry and sweet currant flavors with hints of cacao and earthy bramble tones. Fully developed tannins on the smooth finish. Caymus wines are noted for being approachable while young, but will 1858 stand up with some time? May be a little pricy at $50. I will check back with 1858 in a few years. Tasting Sample.

Very nice wine, tho not my "cup of tea". It is composed for the folks who like to go towards engineered taste - which to me most all the time leads into to much complexity

Mar 14th, 2017Beautiful deep purple color. Nose of, chocolate and vanilla and black cherry. Light tannins with blackberry, vanilla and black cherry in the first sip. Sweeter than I expected but still something I'd buy again.
