Alban is name of first child. what a nose, gamey, stoney, granite, loess, amazing nose. so so sick. red fruits. raspberry coulis. olives, leather, some funk, some barnyard, some horse. wow this nose. wow, so silky, so elegant, big and refined, but juicy and so so elegant. Amazing purity. So open and wide. Coulis. red fruit, so fine, so much velvety tannins, sleek and refined. polished classicism. precise dense deep and lots of material. Drinking so well now.

Dec 23rd, 2022Gorgeous nose is crushed blueberries and blackberries. Herbs and stunning granitic vividness. Gorgeous nose. So complex with just terrific fruit. Some clay/fresh pottery notes. Like a ceramics studio. Palate is ripe, juicy and has terrific thrust and granitic intensity. Juicy, linear and focused. Def needs a few hours to unwind as the tannins, although ripe, clamp down on the finish initially. Ripe and opulent but also fresh, vital and energetic. Great concentration but also showing a lot of the density of 18 and without finesse but that will come with air. 9.3 for now.
Nose is getting good now. Interesting cayenne note, some serious other minerality. The fruit is just gorgeous. This is working itself out. Awesome precision and the finesse is coming through. Terrific length.

Soft and mouthfilling flavors, with a beautiful balance between mineral, savory, and dark but not sweet fruit. Very soft texture and perfectly pitched acids. Terrific.

Jan 8th, 2021Terrific granitic nose. Huge dark berry fruit. Very classy and a terrific sense of depth. Lipstick like intensity and great clarity. Lovely and vivid fruit. Chewy, dense and so juicy. Terrific and intense minerality. Perfect balance and so so clean. Nice hit of opulence on the mid palate but finishes so mineral. Terrific velvety tannins and awesome freshness. Very pure. Freshness and minerality is invigorating on the finish. Structure suggests 15+ years of aging. After air this gets so elegant and granitic. So fresh and linear.
9.3 to 9.4 overnight. What an upgrade! So complex and deep today.

A touch gritty at first, barnyard and Brett. Luckily after some time the Brett blows off, and the fruit and stone come through, lighter side of heavy bodied, with a touch of lush strawberry taffy, then back into the earth, with gravel and popsicle stick, peppery acids.

This is drinking (and smelling!) so good right now. Nose has extremely spicy blackberry/cassis, oodles of crushed granite, bloody meat, sweet spices. So neat. Soft and mouthfillingly savory, with little tannin, nice acidity, and good length.
