Racines & Terroirs Alsace Riesling

Big, ripe, appley nose. A bit of gravelly earth. Similar in the mouth, with an initial belt of rich apple fruit and then just a tad of balancing bitter minerality on the finish. Not complex, but lots of flavors. Good bargain basement Riesling.

I rarely mention the bottle label, but you can’t help but notice the beauty of this one, which depicts the four soil types from which these riesling grapes originate: marl, limestone, clay, and sandstone. Although this wine has 3.2 g/l of residual sugar, you won’t notice it with this wine’s brilliant acidity and striking minerality. Stainless steel production fermentation and aging allows lemon verbena and tart citrus to shine on the nose and palate, making this a perfect match for seafood, especially shellfish. (sample)

Citrus, underripe tropical, salt, caramel, bit O' flowers, roasted pork?, tiny bit of rs. Umami. Damn good.

Tart acid, bracing lemon and minerality, not much complexity but still enjoyable, especially with heavy blue cheese. "Pithy" @Carter Hallman

A mineral Riesling to enjoy with grille sardines and choucroute. Delicious with subtle notes of pineapple and peach.

First sip or two I felt it was rather dull@and “oily”. After that every sip@was better and better, right into the next day. Great acidity and a deep, complex flavor really developed.

First rate dry Riesling that is rich and medium-full bodied but very nicely balanced. Complex fruit and earthiness but smooth. 2014 has some life left.

Strong aromas of oear and lemon peel. Tannins are smooth and roll over the tongue. Lovely hints of ladyfingers and rolls off the tongue with lemon zest.

Apple and pear on the nose, nice acidity on the mouth, tastes of pineapple and guava. Nice mineral finish
