My night before a 10k across a bridge wine.
Decanted for a few hours.
Nose of working farmyard, decomposing, wet hay, and animal ruckus.
Medium bodied with well balance dark fruit, mint, Greek oregano, hints of anise, riverstone. Ending with a long lingering finish that puts the oak and acid at one with each other. Nicely balanced, young , but hey, aren’t we all at heart?

Bought at the SAQ for $21. Terrific value. Medium+ body. Medium acid. Fruit forward for a northern Rhine Syrah. Expected pepper on the pallet. Noticeable lack of tannic grip. A lot of drinkability at $21.

I think this is my first French Syrah, so I don’t have a French comparator. Another reviewer notes that they decanted this wine for 1-2 hours and I would like to emphasize this as well. I took sips along the way and it is significantly better wine when you do this (I personally attacked this wine with vigorous swirling in the decanter. Once it DOES open up, it has dark chocolate bitterness, dark fruit, quite tannic, and spicy. Overall enjoyed it, but you need to take your sweet time with it.
