Caterwaul
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is not just gorgeous, it is also one of the best values readers will come across. Ripe, juicy and expressive, the 2018 once again hits all the right notes. Inky dark fruit, smoke, licorice, spice and sweet floral accents all race out of the glass. Readers will have a very hard time finding a better wine for the money. The balance of various appellations works so well here. The Caterwaul Napa Valley bottling might just be the finest wine in the market in its price range. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2021)

Dark fruits, velvety tannins, baking spices. Plenty open at the moment. With a label made for a mailing list.

Jan 7th, 2019Deep and clear purple. Clean nose with quite a bit going on for a pop and pour. Layers of blueberries, vanilla, cinnamon, blackberries, cassis and violet. High tannins (7.5/10) with balanced acidity and full bodied. Medium dry on the attack of the palate with a velvet like texture. Medium plus intensity with flavors of black plums, oak, nutmeg, bramble and purple flowers. Tannins and acidity pick up the rear of the palate and shows its youth. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2035. (92+)

Oct 26th, 2023Very nice tannins and spice. Excellent with prime rib and tenderloin, surprisingly not too much with scallops.
