Freshly opened pomegranate. Great nose, good fruit.

Cherry, cranberry, sugar free fruit flavors, easy oak, with an interesting sour sop like acid that lingers, for a good while.

What appears to be a little watery at first, comes together after the first couple of glasses. One must attune the pallet to the wine at hand.
This, is a solid wine.

I firmly believe this is one of the best value Rioja line-ups there are. This 2010 is spectacular, and I think the use of American and French oak for 18 months I'd what makes this a great wine spectacularly rustic with a hint of new world flair. It is a blend of 80% temprenillo, 10% garnacha, and 10% mazuelo, and the combination delivers a very fragrant nose of leather, cinnamon, mashed cranberry, and herb de Provence. The pallet is elegant, exhibiting notes of blackberries, cedarwood smoke, gravel, and a touch of vanilla richness to the finish. For $15 I don't think you can ask for more bang for your buck.

Deep ruby hue. Aromas and flavors of blackberry, cherry, earthy, eucalyptus, licorice, plum, and violet. Medium-plus body, with full, grainy tannins and medium-plus acidity. Engaging nose, smooth palate, long finish. A solid, well-made Rioja that's drinking beautifully now. Blend of Tempranillo (95%) and Graciano (5%).
