Castello Vicchiomaggio
Ripa delle More Toscana Sangiovese Blend
Blend of 50% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot, deep Ruby red with fresh red berry aromas and some herb spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry, plum, cacao and licorice. Fine tannins, medium+ finish, good balance with acidity, ending with tobacco and oak on the finish.

Jul 20th, 2024The 2020 Ripa delle More is the estate's blend of (50% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot). Powerful and sleek at the same time, the 2020 packs plenty of intensity into its mid-weight frame. Dark red/purplish fruit, blood orange, mint, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco are some of the many notes that build in the glass. Give this a year or two to soften. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2023)

Showed much better after laying down
Age integrated the fruit, acid and tannin structure
Still drank with surprising freshness to the fruit
Paired will with pepper crusted lean steak
Almost regret opening it....almost

Sappy cherries, herbs, tobacco, loam. Very complex and structured for a wine with 5yrs. Delicious and calls for a Tuscan T-bone or even Hunter's Style Chicken.

Nov 1st, 2014Hints of dark cherry. Was better on first day, but a lovely example of the genre.

Jun 9th, 20192015 vintage. First enjoyed at the source! We stayed at the Castello Vicchiomaggio in June of 2018 and was served this superb wine during the special 5 course meal at the Castle. Had to ship some home! Opened one of the bottles tonight to enjoy with some linguini and clams. Just as smooth and enjoyable as in Tuscany! Earthy and dry. Just know the remaining bottles are going to blow us away in 3 to 5 years. This is a wine with a ton of cellar potential. Going to order some more to put away for a long time. Will always think of our Italy trip when we drink this!

Jan 3rd, 2019Pop and pour super tuscan. Delicious to begin and then improved in the glass. Dark cherry and very smooth, well integrated tannins. Paired well with our authentic Italian meal in Boston’s North end prior to game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semis. #celticsfanfortonight
