Vigna Santo Stefano Barbera d'Alba

Easy win

Deep ruby with purple highlights. Medium intensity red and black fruit on the nose, with cherry, plum and sweet spice. On the palate, medium acidity and surprisingly high tannin and high alcohol. Oak spice, cedar, vanilla, plum and cherry. Long finish but neither as elegant nor as soft as I prefer in a Barbera.

Not overly complex but damn delicious.

Very ripe fruit, balanced with acidity.

This works with chicken parm 😉

Decent barbera from my local wine merchant for $23 but probably wouldn’t buy again

Concrete and cranberry on the nose. Soft plum with soft tannins and low acidity. Great with pasta.
