Old school. Good balance. A little VA.

I've had my ups and downs with Chianti/Sangiovese - including a previous encounter with Gabiano's entry level Chianti offering - and I just can't seem to find a solid foothold. Sometimes delicious, sometimes meh. This falls more on the meh side of things. Wound a bit too tight, both on the palette and nose, you get mostly earthy notes but miss out on the fruit. Even with time to open up this one just didn't deliver (I actually preferred the entry level offering).

Angry enough to hit you with a sour plum and loving enough to make you a nice pasta with so many herbs. Tannins are prevalent which I’m into but others may want to wait a minute. Not the most complex but it has intelligence

Absolutely lovely - artisan bread, some cheeses, olives, charcuterie and a warm breeze.

Nice brightness, length and progression. Gripping tannins but overall very balanced.

Sour red cherries, tomato & oregano predominate. Licorice. Tannins are smooth, crazy acidic.

Deep ruby-garnet (blood?) red in the glass. Fully present nose of cherry and pencil shavings. Full body with medium plus acidity (softened by the touch of Merlot) and velvety tannins. Palate echoes the nose with a hint of vanilla midway. Finish is medium long and black. Solid.
