Castello di Ama
l'Apparita Toscana Merlot
Medium ruby colour , ruby rim. Quite fresh and slightly spicy on the nose , violets , red plum , spicy blackberry and some redder fruits also , cherry and raspberry, freshly cut herbs . On the palate more strawberry and raspberry notes , with cherry tart , herbal hints . Quite fresh and dusty tannins and good cherry and blackberry , saline tinged finish . Needs a bit of time , maybe another 5 years , will last well for a further 10-15. Promising , well balanced and elegantly made .

Nov 23rd, 2024This is a really great wine, still a a baby. This is the fist in a velvet glove wine from Ama!

Apr 15th, 2021The nose of this wine and the palate of this wine are mismatched. The nose is smoky fig, oak heavy with some leather characteristics. The palate of this wine is black and purple primarily, very sweet, unlike the more aged nose. 100% merlot from Toscana, opened by Joe. Finishes soft. Good structure. I believe that this one is going to hold on for the next 10 years easily. Be in no rush! Nice structure.

Apr 21st, 2019Very good although pricey old Tuscan merlot. Probably a bit past prime, and not at all what I was looking for. Nice setting with only a few tables, but in terms of food this is the WORST Michelin one star restaurant I have ever encountered. Wine list is also quite limited. Avoid this restaurant at all cost. Michelin really needs to get their act together, as this place is a complete abomination.
