The 2018 Chianti Classico Ama shows just how promising the vintage is. A burst of sweet red cherry fruit, cedar, leather, spice and orange peel give the 2018 a feeling of exuberance that is impossible to miss. The purity of the flavors is just striking. Beautiful wine, right up there with the greats! Cherry, herbs and earth with a touch of sweetness on the finish. Medium weight with silky satin mouth feel, ...dryness persists on the finish. Obviously an incredible buy at $35.

I wanted to like this more given the other wines I've had from Castello di Ama. Lacked both structure and complexity. Lots of plumminess and cocoa, but not much else going on--

This was before the 1982 sale of Castello. Little info, but this is pre-replanting of mid-80s, very pastoral expression. Eye opening Tuscan gem.
