Dark in the glass. Like rusty nail and a blood red rose. Smells nice. Perfume of peony, rose and lilac. Also has black cherry juice, and soft black licorice candy. Flavor is robust and bittersweet. Maybe a hint of mocha. Plenty of moreno black cherries. Tannins in spades. More fruit less cedar/incense than some other Rioja’s. It has lovely intensity though. Aged quite nicely too.
