Casa Lapostolle
Cuvée Alexandre Apalta Vineyard Merlot
Saw an ‘08, so I grabbed it and wanted to see how it tasted. Founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. The Marnier Lapostolle family are founders and owners of the world-renowned liqueur Grand Marnier. A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Carmenere, dark red almost purple with berry fruit and lively citrus notes. Raspberry and blackberry flavors with cacao and cedar tones, well balanced, full ripe tannins. Lingering finish ending with oak and fruit notes. Still tasting well!

Oct 27th, 20172008 vintage. Not bad. Enjoyable enough for a weeknight quaf. Dark purple in color. Flavors of blackberry, cassis, and a bit of green pepper. Medium finish. Paired with leftover Magret Duck and Fava Beans, which went well.

Jul 9th, 2015Strong alcohol and somewhat overpowering. Heavy wine which is much more like a Cabernet than a Merlot, black currant flavours and dry finish.

Really enjoyed. Rather full bodied especially for a merlot.

Mar 25th, 2013Cherries and plums on the nose. Almost something lemony going on too. Chocolate and vanilla behind. On the mouth it has ok tannins, a spicy peppery kick and good structure. I really like it.
