The wine has a concentrated opaque garnet color and the Bouquet has a nice complexity. Red and fruits with leather and earth. The palate is nicely balanced with good weight and depth. The finish is long and the tannins are well integrated. This is a lovely showing and drinking very good! I’d recommend a 1-2 Hour decant to really open up the wine.

Last had a bit under 3 years ago. Could use a ton more time. Probably would have called southern Rhone blind. Quite generous with lots of red fruit. Excellent acid and a bit of refinement on the finish give some sense that this is from somewhere else - in this case, higher altitude wines in the Douro valley that the producer uses in the best years for a reserva. Nice wine.

This certainly needed the age - it’s still quite primary. Blind you might think a right bank Bordeaux, though the grapes are all Portuguese. Lots of great fruit, balanced earth, excellent length on the finish, just enough acid. Perfect with lamb “persillade” on Easter.

What a wonderful wine. Full body, delicate, silky, with crystalline texture. Notes of red berries, some sour cherries, hints of chocolate, cigar box, spices. Good to drink now (2018 tasting), but reveals capacity of aging for some 20 years.

Jan 19th, 2018Perhaps a little closed. This certainly was not in a great place. Very subtle fruit and a slightly unpleasant charred finish.
