I've had many bottles of this. Lots of variation. Always has old very rustic old world qualities. This one smelled like a cigarette ashtray, in a good way! Not the best one I've had but good value for under $20 wholesale.

This 2005 Italian classic from toscana is a solid choice. Color dark red, medium- full body with soft tannins and a nice acidity. On the nose blackberries, black cherries and notes of minerals and dark chocolate. long nice finish. My score 87, Drink now

Soft, supple tannins, elegant fruit and notable Italian funk that always make me happy. Not the greatest vintage of the 2000s, but the layers were well integrated for an 8 year old wine.

Funny, when I first drank this my notes were a ‘meh’ kind of experience- just too shallow, the freshness & acidity there, nicely formed, slightly underripe blackberries, but it’s stuck in 2nd gear. After forgetting to get my notes down, I had a previously un recalled memory: the bottle really needs more time. I want to say it’s like a Raffault Chinon in its ‘dumb’ phase.

I can’t believe it’s a Sangiovese! Big chocolate, big violet, big florals. A bigger finish was advertised but maybe we just drank it too fast.
