Compagni Portis White Blend
Pale straw color with aromas of lychee, honeysuckle, green apple, pear, and wet stone. Medium bodied with evidence of lees stirring and a bit lacking in acidity . More minerality is evident than fruit on the palate. Field blend of 50+ year-old vines featuring Gewürtztraminer, Trousseau Gris, Riesling, and mixed whites. 13.9 % ABV. $30.

Feb 2nd, 2019Blend of Riesling, Trousseau Gris, and Gewurztraminer - fruity and a touch of residual sugar on the nose like great wine from Alsace, and almost bone dry laced with juicy acidity. This stuff is wonderful - my ideal summer wine.

Jul 20th, 2018Weekly Wednesday Wine Committee lunch...always such a treat to attend. This week, Dan hosted. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All blind as usual.
Guessing varietals blind is tough enough, but once you start introducing field blends, I want to raise the white flag. My final guesses were Alsatian Pinot Gris or Spanish Albariño. I was semi-on track with my Alsatian guess at least. Lots of floral and orange blossom here. Even some chamomile. Acidity was really low that I understood the Viognier guesses. A nice white from Carlisle.

Plushest and most golden of the three producers I know hat work with this site- still juicy and bright. Big time stone fruit cut by citrusy acidity.

Wonderful nose. Riesling dominates here. I think it will be better integrated with more air or aging.

A great 2016 Summer sipper if you can find any of the circa 1080 bottles made.
At age 4 the Gewurtztraminer is starting to take back seat allowing the Riesling to shine a bit more.
Probably better known for their Reds but if you haven't experienced the whites from Carlisle you're really missing out.
