Dark fruits, blackberries, smoke, liquorice, smoke/ash, spices. Quite massive and brawny. Maybe a touch monolithic compared with other vintages in this tasting.

Wow, a nose to die for, incredible length, no hard edges at all in this classic Barolo. However, this wine shows ripeness, is juicy and I see no reason to wait.

Lovely Barolo with a nice grittiness, classic tongue-stripping tannins, Kirsch, and some herbal notes after about 45 minutes open that fade in an hour or so. Not as good as some other vintages I've had - a bit more tarry on the tongue and not as voluptuous. Perhaps in a dumb period, or maybe just not the best vintage from this producer.
