Caparone Winery
Estate Grown Paso Robles Aglianico
Sweet, port-like, almost pruney nose. Some wood and a bit of gravel underneath. I like the texture (mouthfilling and tannins under control), but it’s pretty simple in the mouth, with noticeable residual sugar. Overall kinda disappointing for this normally exemplary and idiosyncratic producer.

Dec 5th, 2021Delectable ate my contemporaneous notes on this, but from what I remember it had a beautiful balance of fruit and extract, just enough tannin, bright acids and high-toned limestoney Paso minerality. I prefer this over most Taurasis I’ve had.

Jun 8th, 2017This was quite an interesting bottle of wine. Not quite settling into any typical taste profile, and changing a bunch after breathing. It went from a taut almost acidic Zin style to a softer, lighter, Pinot Noir flavor profile. Fun.

Jun 7th, 2017Bright fruit with green fermented veggies. Some plummyness. Yum. Big purple fruit on the palette. Tannins start washing in on the mid and keep gripping till the end.
