Cantine Nicosia
Lenza di Munti Etna Rosso Red Blend

First sip acidic, every other sip better than the last until I was ultimately pissed that it finished. Great wine. Catnip in every way.

Truncated notes because I had this and wrote it up about 10 months ago, but it’s still super fresh and flavorful and vigorous, in an undemanding way. Great value and very good flexible.

Nice lighter style Etna in an undemanding package. Nose needs a little air, but quickly shows juicy, plummy berry fruit and lots of clean, stony minerals. In the mouth, it’s soft and fairly low in acidity, with a surprisingly developed range of flavors for its age. Very dry. Medium body, a fair amount of very soft tannin coats the mouth on the finish. In overall feel, it started off reminding me of a traditional Valpo (i.e., non-Ripasso, no dried grapes), but took on a bit of weight as it gained oxygen. A very nice wine with my sautéed turkey cutlets tonight, it would also be a nice accompaniment to pastas with lighter tomato sauces. Good value weekday red.
