Cantina Luigi Pira
Dolcetto d'Alba
Purchased at the winery, a favorite from a Piedmonte trip. Nose of cool plum, cracked pepper, dark berry fruit and leather. Palate is juicy and rich, with a balance of acidity and chalky tannins. Licorice and forest berries bounce around. More complexity than other examples from the region. Outstanding QPR.

Oct 30th, 2017Bigger, bolder style of dolcetto! Black and boysenberry fruit, even tar and leather hints. Powerful, dry, with ripe and juicy fruits. Hints of black tea on the finish. A favorite we brought home from a recent trip to Serralunga and visit to the winery. Pair with a richer meat and cheese charcuterie board.
