May 22nd, 20222018; Sparkling Nebbiolo (Spanna). The new vintage landed in our cellar quite some time ago, just getting around to tasting this evening.
What a fantastic color, nothing else like this in Italy.
See notes from my numerous posts on prior vintages, mostly consistent but strawberry notes are quite prominent on the palate for this vintage. Just lovely. 92-93

May 7th, 2022Nose has cut red cherries, washed strawberries, washed raspberries, dried strawberry, faint rose bush and dried lemon zest.
Palate has cherries sprinkled with chalk dust, dried raspberry, fresh bread and faint banana.
Finish is juicy with medium acidity, great mouthfeel, lightly creamy, fine bubbles!

Feb 20th, 2021So so fine. Nose is all strawberries, just insanely pretty. Some red cherries or maybe Rainer cherries. So clean. So vivid. Some florals as well. So delicate. Palate is dense, juicy and bright with awesome complexity, mouthfeel and a brilliant mousse. Man this is juicy. Uber clean. Really brilliant how the mousse is so fine and elevates the mouthfeel. Like really high end champagne.

Minerals with subtle pretty red fruit, strawberries, some cherry hard candy and red flowers. Great tension, long, vibrating stony and yeasty finish. Still a lot of primary yeast notes that I think will integrate nicely with time.

I’m a huge fan of Champagne and can be a bit snobbish about other sparkling wine. However, I love Piemonte sparkling — it’s the exception for me. This is a perfect example as to why! Juicy, delicious, beautiful red fruit and citrus.

Getting low on our stock of the 2016, but luckily my resupply shipment recently arrived home, with the 2017 version. This 2016 is such a wonderful bottle, awesome color, copper-pink in our glasses. Everyone should seek a sparkling Nebbiolo (Spanna) for 2021 and see what all the excitement is about. Beautiful salty mineral notes dance around your tounge, delicious!

Nose has cut yellow & red cherry, washed raspberries, freshly baked white bread, (light) white pepper and moist chalk.
Palate has chalky cherry, raspberry juice, medium acid and crusty bread on the very long finish.
