Had this at a Tapas Bar. Located in the Garaff Masiff mountain range, So. of Barcelona, Carlos Esteva in 1979 took a dilapidated family estate, restore his grandfather's house in Penedes. Aged for 12 months in French oak with grapes from 30 year-old vines. A Mediterranean Bordeaux blend, dark almost purple with dark fruit, earth and spice. On the palate blackberry and tart cherry with pronounced earthy tones. Fine tannins, well balanced with elegant finish ending with mineral notes. Still had room to age!

First taste, no idea where from. Nicely balanced with mature red fruits and earthy notes minerals. A good Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon! 14ABV. 19,840 bottles.

Similar to an aged Rioja or Chianti. Red fruit, black fruit, earth, leather, tobacco, and eucalyptus. Opened for about 30 minutes prior to drinking. Definitely needs more time to breathe. Very enjoyable

Similar to Pinot Noir with light to medium body, refreshing and good length... it’s a Spain Bordeaux.

Smoke, pepper, and leather notes on a fruit-forward frame. Good balance and length, with some grip. Not bad.

Never been a huge fan of Penedes, but this is kind of mice, feels honest to its origin and works well with bbq. I'd have it again
