Winemaker poured me this treat at the Grand Opening of Pebble Beach Food & Wine. Out of mag and delicious. Still shinning after 35 years plus.

Tasted blind. Dark tawny color, translucent. High-pitched nose with a cherry cola feel. Notes of sweet strawberries and red fruit. Impactful in the mouth. Has a bit of heat, but not overly so. Some complexity has developed. Some funk too. Debate is if this is old or new world. I recall tasting old Calera pinots that are like this and guess early 90's Calera. Good stuff!

Medium reddish purple with aromas of blackberry, raspberry, sassafras, and pine needles. Intense dark berry fruit is evident on the palate but it doesn’t feel sappy or heavy. 100% whole clusters are fermented with native yeasts then aged 17 months in 30% new French oak. Reed Vineyard is the last to be harvested at Calera’s Mt. Harlan site. 14% ABV.

Barely opaque, tawny with reddish amber rims. Sweet fruit nose. Notes of raspberry and strawberry rhubarb pie. Some stem notes. Great fruit, structure and balance in the mouth. Rich. After several hours this was powering along. Great old CA pinot!

The 2015 Pinot Noir Reed Vineyard emerges from a northern facing slope that is always the last to be harvested. Silky and succulent on the palate, with terrific vibrancy, the Reed is also quite open today. Like most of these wines, the Reed offers notable purity and freshness throughout. Best of all, it should drink well with minimal cellaring. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2018)

More brooding than the others but a lovely, long finish.

Thought this was the winner for me on the older vintages we tried. Fresh, plenty of acid still present, and a bit more delicate than the other more powerful older vintages.

13.6% alc.

A bit more ripe and round than I would've expected from this great producer.
