Completely blown away by this Texas Malbec. Blind tasted, guessed Barbera from Napa, or Old world Zin... it was elegant, herbaceous in a great way, and minty - drank like an aged Cahours almost. Wow.

Drinks very similarly to a well made Cahors, which to my knowledge isn't really Ben's favorite. This wine has a nose of green pepper, green olive, and pipe tobacco. The entry is dark fruit with olive tapenade. A little smoky. Middle gains a bit of herb, but still dark smoked black fruits. Finishes with some toasted oak and hint of fig. Going to age another 7 to 10 easily.

Tasted blind. My immediate thought after first smell/no taste that popped in my head was ripasso/amarone. After a a little hint my guess was a Croatia Zin. Had that old world note to it with some bramble berries and spice. Nice blind pick @Stephen Pierron
