Caillez-Lemaire
Eclats Brut Damery Champagne Blend
The weekend upon us and we're hosting another dinner party for a couple of friends. Tonight's theme was Rhone wine, so good stuff on deck.
No new notes, please see my prior posts/commentary.

No notes, a quiet celebration for my wife and me as I have successfully ticked another box in the years-on-planet category today. Feeling older...I think.
Cailleze-Lemaire Eclats, Lot No. 0514; A newer bottle than what was previously in the cellar. I'll capture notes on a future bottle. Palate seems a little subdued from prior lot, perhaps more time in bottle is deserved.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our Conductor Anna Rakitina (BSO’s Assistant Conductor) is leading Elena LANGER (Figaro Gets a Divorce, Orchestral Suite), RAVEL (Piano Concerto in G) and ELGAR (Opus 36, Enigma Theme). The soloist for the piano concerto tonight is none other than Jean-Yves Thibaudet, our absolute favorite pianist (or piano-player as Emanuel Ax has been noted to say because he thinks the traditional term sounds funny when spoken), a never-to-be-missed event for us whenever he plays these hallowed grounds. (In 2004 Jean-Yves served as president of the Hospices de Beaune, factoid for any wine nerds who are also classical music nerds.)

Lovely nose of brioche, cream, baked apple, minerals, nuts, very clean. Palate is sappy, clean, with awesome purity and freshness. Fruit skin fruit is pretty and super expressive. Does NV get better? No!!

Jul 2nd, 2021No new words to describe how much we lo♥️ve this bottle tonight. All I can say is we're starting to get low on our stash, thankfully a restocking is in my future already...

Oct 17th, 2020Golden delicious apple and ripe gooseberry. Classic, baked toasty yeasty notes. Deep, long, mineral and so delicious with a mouth-watering, sweet and salty finish. Crazy that this is the entry level cuvee. Tasted blind along with the also excellent Perseval Farge C. de Reserve. Thank you @Lyle Fass !

Sep 13th, 2020One of the best NV blends ever. Blows me away every time. Deep, yeasty and complex nose with notes of raspberry, mineral, pound cake, brown butter. Just gorgeous. So so aromatic. Palate is so elegant, crunchy and deep. Sappy fruits and lots of minerals. A wonderful vinous quality plus mega elegance. Really compelling. Like a soft kiss. Awesome.

Jul 8th, 2020Just can't get enough of this bottle, best QPR in Champagne, for my palate!
Prior notes apply; Nose is toasty brioche and a minerally quince jam. Ultra clean, creamy palate reflecting the same notes.
I love this wine! Thank you @Lyle Fass

One of our favorite visits when we were in Reims in the Spring of 2018 was a short drive out to Damery to meet and taste with Virginie at Caillez-Lemaire. Their wines are such elegance, I simply can't get enough, glad we're buying case quantities now!

Great showing. Nose of toasty brioche, smoke, white pepper, saline, complex palate with tangy and saline elements and lovely hint of opulence but great sap and length as well. What a finish.
