Nose of bing cherries with a hint of cardboard. Palate is still fruit-forward with overripe cherries, sandalwood, and coffee notes. Cardboard is noticeable on the palate, too. Enjoyable, but past it’s sell by date, even though it has been well stored.

Got to this just in time. Leather notes on the nose. Still has a solid core of black fruits. Lovely texture and balance on the mid-palate. Slightly spicy with black pepper, strawberries and soft brown sugar. Tannins are nicely tucked in. If you like your wines vibrant, drink the 06’s now.

I was expecting an angel to sing in my ear, given the vintage and producer. My experience fell well short. Needed loads of air to coax it out of its shell. Overall, a disappointment. Screwcap closure.
