Buty
Rediviva of the Stones Syrah Blend
I’ll have to look at my prior notes of this wine, but this strikes me as far more acid-driven than the last bottle I had. Nose show red fruits, crushed rock, and smellable acidity. Lean, crisp, but intense. Like a real hybrid of Walla Walla and a Northern Rhone from an older days cooler vintage. It’s got good length and mouthwatering acids. A Syrah- based wine to have with some meat dish in a sauce, as opposed to a simple grilled or roasted meat.

Jun 16th, 2021Best bottle I’ve had yet of this. I think that wee bit of Cabernet provides some cassis and dark cherry fruit that balances the ashy, mineral-savory elements of Rocks District Syrah. On the palate it’s fairly subtle and has a very silky texture, unlike the more tacky feel of a lot of Rocks Syrah (which I like, to be sure).

Sep 3rd, 2020A relatively delicate take on Walla Walla Syrah. Nose has herb-tinged sweet, tangy red fruit, clean river stones, and a sweet cured meat note. So soft-textured in the mouth. Initially very cracked-stone minerally but then, on the extended finish, the fruit comes through. Very distinctive.

Dec 7th, 2019Intensely smoky, ashy, minerally nose. In the mouth it’s intense and, unlike a lot of broad-textured wines from the Rocks District, it’s quite compact in feel. Dense, minerally, savory, but with a core of dark cherry fruit. Initially quite peppery (in the alcoholic heat sense—which was odd given that it’s less than 14%) air time helped the finish smooth out. The finish is long and savory, with a high pH feel.

Aug 15th, 2014fantastic blend of Syrah and cab with great age but could go for many years more! Lush dark fruit, great forest backbone, herbaceous finish. Just tantalizing and pleasing!
