May 5th, 2018It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious one from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.
Gorgeous nose of blackberries, cooked cherries, dried figs, tobacco, cedar, leather, chocolates, vanilla, earth, wood, spices, black pepper, wet leaves and dark coffee.
Full bodied, smooth and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cherries, oak, licorice, spices, coffee, pencil lead, peppercorn, leather, cola, vanilla, smoke, coffee, earth, leather and tobacco.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This yummy Napa Cabernet is well balanced and enjoyable by itself or with food. Showing nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Good now and will be even better in the next 5 to 7 years.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up (2 hours).
I had it blind, and called it right, except for the vintage. Missed the vintage by a few years, as it feels older. Exactly what you want to get out of a Napa Cabernet.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels.
14.7% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$60.

Dark on the nose showing blackberry and lots of baking spice. On the palate it is elegant yet complex with black fruit, dried plum and crushed rock. Tannins are medium to medium heavy and is very approachable with spicy and oaky tendencies.

Jul 19th, 20222011. I don’t have many Cabernet Sauvignon in the cellar (🤷♂️) but wanted to pair one with a tenderloin roast for Christmas dinner. Decanted all afternoon and it kept getting better as I sampled now and again while prepping. This is not a wine that jumps out of the glass or explodes on the palate, but it paired perfectly with the steak and I would definitely purchase again!
