Hint if tobacco, dark cherry, plum. A low level thrum of intensity. Interesting with lots of chatter. All very in place.

Holy cow. A heartbreaking nose- intense red fruit, roses, violets, sandalwood, lavender, strawberry. Such amazing balance and tension. On the palate this is extraordinary. Still quite dense and packed but gorgeous fruit with leather, cherry, damson, herbs. This is still young, but soooo classy.

1982 Bruno Giacosa Santo Stefano Riserva Barbaresco. First red at post-museum lunch at Il P. Very interesting to drink this alongside the '82 Giacosa Barolo, which the whole table seemed to favor. Still a great wine, just overshadowed by the Barolo.
