Such a baby, but so much potential! The nose alone. Check back in 3 decades.

Licorice, menthol, a bit cooked. Fruit on the palate, still kicking but drink now

A lot of menthol, but with a good bit of depth, it is enjoyable, but still very young and it really needs more time for the menthol to fade and the other flavors and aromas to become more prominent as it is pretty monolithic at the moment. It had been double decanted at least a few hours before dinner, if I recall correctly.

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives. -Hedley Lamarr Blazing Saddles My mind was a whirl after drinking this wine.
This is easily one of the best Italian wines I have ever had. The color was taking on that brownish hue and the nose was gorgeous. Red fruit, minerals with silky tannins. It just kept getting better as time went by. The finish was literally a minute long. Amazing!

1996 Bruno Giacosa Riserva Asili di Barbaresco. Dinner at RW during staycation. Interesting nose- graphite and pencil shavings and sour fruit. A little lean and not as big as in the past. Drank this before the '99 Soldera and glad we did. Totally enjoyed this wine.

Incredibly dense, fine but packed tannins. Unbelievable intensity of fruit but oh, so contained. Just brilliant in potential but now, clammed-down. A couple of decades later this could be perfect.

1996 Bruno Giacosa Riserva Barbaresco. Drank at RW. Great wine, but not quite as good as K had hoped it would be. Definitely opened up as we drank it, which made it more interesting.
