The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Case Vecie blossoms in the glass with a spicy blend of crushed cherries and blackberries, complemented by violet pastille and hints of sweet smoke. This is cool-toned and sleek with silky textures and admirable weight, yet all is kept perfectly in balance by a core of brisk acidity. Depths of tart wild berry fruit saturate while bitter dark chocolate and inner rose tones swirl throughout. The 2013 leaves the palate reeling with tension as crunchy tannins take hold and notes of licorice and orange slowly fade. This is built for the cellar and is slowly maturing in bottle. A blend of 40% Corvinone, 30% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, remained indigenous grapes derived from 18-acre vineyard, grapes dried for several months using appassimento method. Deep Ruby with with aromas of dried fruits with pepper and smoky floral spice notes. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry and cherry flavors, savory, with citrus, tobacco, cacao and floral notes. Soft ripe tannins, chewy on long finish ending with a juicy fruit and oak spicy floral character.

Smoky and layered but overly plummy too. 2010 was much better recently.

Very nice smooth and definitive finish. A little too extracted in the mouth for my liking

Spice, woodsmoke / tobacco. Complex earthiness balanced by rich, jammy fruit. Big on palate; thick tannins
