First Zinfandel, chalky dry as finish, sweet aroma with a balance of tannins and fruity notes. Overall a great wine.

Ruby colored with a big alcoholic nose with just a hint of plums, big sweet Lodi fruit on the palate and an oaky vanilla finish. Just not my style of wine.

A brand from the Delicato Family Vineyards (they have about 17 brands in their portfolio). Old vines (40 - 100 years old) on sandy soils in the Lodi AVA, in the inland valleys East of San Francisco. Ruby red colour, not very deep for an old vine Zin. Lots of dark fruit (blackberry) in the nose, intertwined with coffee and cocoa. Bold, dark fruity taste with hints of chocolate and a peppery bitter-sweet finish. Neither elegant nor complex, but a good example of a middle-class Zinfandel. At 20.80 euro it is expensive though, especially if compared to Italian Primitivo.

I was enticed by the age of this wine 2010, but unfortunately, it did not become miraculously delicious… not quite turned yet but close. Bummer
