Boutari
Kretikos Kotsifali Mandilaria Blend
The Boutari family has been crafting wines from Greek varietals since 1879, when Yiannis Boutari first started producing red wines in the small northern village of Naoussa. A blend of indigenous red varieties, Kotsifali & Μantilaria, and sits in oak for12 months. Aromas of sweet red berry fruit. Flavors of spiced strawberry and cherry with firm tannins and an earthy character. Medium finish ending with sweet mineral tang.

Jan 9th, 2018Pale red, almost brick like color on this blend of kotsifali (60%) and mandilaria (40%) red. Nose full of wood and a little acetone, with some red fruits thrown in. The red fruits dominate the palate, the tannins are smooth but the finish finishes too quickly. This is a good wine to open with friends, but I wouldn't bring it to a dinner.

Palette is somewhat misleading in the way blue cheese gives you a right hook right before a gentle caress on your taste buds. Mellows out after a few minutes and really is quite nice - sharp, easy and a nice tangy finish. Sti̱n ygeiá mas!
