Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône, Rhône, France
Ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Nice nose of fresh red fruits.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, light oak, chocolates, licorice, coffee, spices, tobacco leaf, light earth and herbs.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Elegant and nicely balanced.
The 2022 vintage was excellent, and it shows. Already drinking beautifully. Very approachable, complex and rich.
The high alcohol is already well integrated. Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.
Still young, and needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.
Very tasty by itself as a sipping wine or with food.
A blend of 98% Grenache with a touch of Cinsault and Clairette. Grapes from 70 year old vines were aged in large French oak barrels for 15 months. A small production of less than 8,000 bottles.

Developing, Red and black fruits are becoming more stewed. Sweet leather and game. The alcohol and body are so elevated it seems almost port like in texture.

Age worthy. Age necessary. All Grenache from La Guadiole — structured but classic. Can’t wait to see this on in 10 years.

Another monthly WTF Group meet up. Northern Rhône vs Southern Rhône, blind as usual.
This was probably the easiest guess of the night for me, mainly because of the dominant red fruit/spice. I didn’t pick up a lot of dark fruit or secondary herbal/meaty notes. Still tannic, this is a very solid CdP that has the stuffing to go a while.

Big, bold, and and full of bacon. You need fatty meat dishes with this. Wow!

May be my fav wine of the year so far. Nose is like a fresh meat locker in all the right ways!!! Cellar temp. It will change with some time. Taste is slightly sweet to start and very silky and hugs your cheeks. Quickly changes to deep fruit, cedar and licorice. Fun bottle.

Unbelievably smooth. Spicy red fruit, white pepper and garrigue. Could easily be drunk in 2020.
