This is very nice. Very soft tannins, full bodied and a little earthy. Just what I needed to end the weekend.

Decent house red. Red cherries and vanilla on the nose/palate. Zippy acidity. Needs 15 minutes in glass to open up. Paired well with stuffed peppers and tomato sauce.

Nestore Bosco has been making wines in Italy’s Abruzzo region since 1897, and there is something to be said for being able to sustain a business for that long. The Bosco 2018 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a full varietal wine which carries an alcohol level of 13.5% abv and retails for around $15. It was brought to the U.S. by Connecticut importer Votto Vines.

This dark-colored wine smells of dark fruit - blackberries, plums, currants - and tastes much the same. There is quite a bit of sweetness to the palate, and the tannins are very firm. Oak spice comes across as flavors of cinnamon, clove, tobacco and anise. The finish is savory and somewhat lengthy.

Really nice, smooth, earthy, potpourri, smoke, brambly dark fruits, plum, and vanilla.

Went to a family Italian restaurant for the best meatball anywhere. The wine selection is limited and mostly supermarket type selections, and too young. When asked, the owner (in his 70’s) showed me this 2011 bottle with a proud smile as if this was pulled out from his secret cellar. Who could resist?

Rich, earthy, and herbal with a rustic touch. Nice mix of dark plum and red cherry. Acidity has been rounded and tannins mellowed. Lingering sweet herbal finish. Paired great with the meat ball. Satisfying!
