Crushed apples and sage mix with tropical florals as the 2020 Ronco della Chiesa comes to life in the glass. This is soothing on the palate with its soft textures, yet it is also stimulating. A blend of sour citrus and minerals adds tension toward the close. This takes on a bit of a tropical flair through the finish, hinting at fresh vanilla bean and ripe melon. While the 2020 comes across as highly appealing today, there's a core of underlying power here that promises even better things to come. The Ronco della Chiesa is a varietal Tocai Friulano and one of the standouts from the 2020 portfolio at Borgo del Tiglio. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2023)

The 2019 Ronco della Chiesa is smoky yet elegant in the glass with flinty crushed peaches, nuances of sweet spice and wet stone. It’s silky and polished in feel with a lovely inner sweetness and a slight tropical tone to its fruit, yet the balance is on point. The 2019 finishes long and floral, leaving hints of melon. This is an interesting vintage of Ronco della Chiesa, a varietal Friulano, as it has a distinctive confectionary character, yet comes across as completely harmonious. Awesome wine. As usual, If you think you don’t like a category or variety, just go spend $80/bottle then come back and talk to me. This wine shows what Friulano can be. Polished, mildly enriched by oak barrels, very complex fruit, minerals and Unami and super stylish texture...Like the first time you saw a car designed by Karmen Ghia

Luminous pale straw-yellow. Slightly reticent aromas of honey, banana, and sweet spices. Big, rich and dense with lively but harmonious acidity providing clarity and cut to the ripe stone fruit and honeyed flavors. Finishes long and pure. A very good wine, but the hot year makes this less typical of the Tocai Friulano variety than in past vintages; readers should note that the Ronco della Chiesa is usually one of Italy’s best twenty or so whites in practically every vintage. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, May 2018)

Beautiful, rich and mineral, touch of oak, and yellow fruits. Great to see it evolve over the course of the meal.
