On this the eve of an exciting 4th of July weekend I am trying a Pinot Noir from the Sta. Rita Hills in California. First I get expressive aromas on the nose. There is nice funk I like so well and good red & dark fruit that jumps out at you making my mouth water. There is also some spice & earthy notes with hints of herbal background. The palate brings red cherry that dances across the tongue. There is a nice medium tannin and medium acidity with toasty oak. The finish is full and long lasting. This is a good acceptable Pinot.

Jul 3rd, 2014A tiptoe through a raspberry and strawberry field, a quick dip in the funk pond...then winds on down the roasted fig and cardomon highway.
