#1 last night in the 4 bottle blind tasting. We brought this and won with 4 1st place votes. A lesson relearned; gauge your audience, some will bring cheap stuff and luckily win, some go high and it’s too sophisticated for the audience. Generally, if you wanna scope this go for the most popular that sells around $15

This vintage is barely ok. Very uneven. Overly oaky, with dark fruity notes. Was better the next day but loses flavor. Ok, juice. 13.89 at Costco. Might not get again. Maybe if I’m curious, might hold on to it for a couple of years.

Maybe they called it Phantom because that’s what happened to the other flavors. Did the vanilla die on the vine? Maybe I’ll be the phantom by the time this opens up. Maybe the intention was like a martini—the phantom is the whisper of vermouth over the top of a glass instead of in it.

Three aerations later, impatience, and a bottle opened while I effing waited—no ouija board required—I raised the dead. We got flavors. We got drinkability. We got something.

Cherry, big pit fruit, kampot peppercorn, and some toasted vanilla. It’s a big ghost with a small scare factor. I raised the damn dead and it was fine.

Very pleasant. And went well with gizzards in wine!

Big, floral on the nose, good wine to lay down, good mouth feel and fruit balance with acidic and tannin, finish of tobacco and smoky flavor. Good, but we can find a good for much less per bottle

Really yummy red. Complex, dry, oakey creamy finish. Would def but again, best red I've had in awhile.
