This winery is located in the best terroir of La Mancha found in the eastern region of the Denomination of Origin. Deep purple with aromas of dark fruits and exotic spices. On the palate blackberry and blueberry flavors adding in sweet savory spice, rich and elegant. Fine perdistent tannins, medium+ finish ending with spicy character. Nice!

1 person found it helpfulOct 14th, 2018It's been a year or so since I last had this. A little too much sugar left for my taste. Nice smokey nose, charcoal, but on the palate... Some sweet. Big tannins. Deep, dark color. Decent, but there are better options at this price point.

Massive 15.5% smackdown from Alicante. Strong thick slow legs. Full bodied. The nose is earthy with white pepper, hint of black licorice. Palate is interesting. Quite silky, immediate attack is dusty, supposedly like the terrain (late revision: this note subsiding over time); then big fruit, the end is a tad candyish with very little tannic grip. I had this with a light meal. It would have paired better with steak, or heat spice. Great wine, but Vatan is better in this price range for Spain.
